Tristan Peters homers in the ninth inning to give the White Sox a 2-1 win over the Mets

CHICAGO -- Tristan Peters homered with one out in the ninth inning to give the Chicago White Sox a 2-1 victory over the New York Mets on Sunday.

After the Mets tied it in the top of the inning, Peters drove a pitch from Kodai Senga (0-9) 406 feet into the center-field seats to seal Chicagos 11th walk-off victory this season and second of the series. It was Peters third walk-off hit of the season.

Andrew Benintendi drove in the other run with a double and Chicago's bullpen allowed one run in seven innings.

Benintendi gave Chicago a 1-0 lead in the eighth with a double that scored Miguel Vargas . Jared Young answered right back in the top of the ninth inning, tying the game with a single.

Despite allowing the tying run, Grant Taylor (6-2) worked a two-hit ninth, fanning two batters for the win. Sean Newcomb , Erick Fedde and Hagen Smith allowed a combined five hits over the first eight innings while striking out eight.

Mets starter Nolan McLean worked six scoreless innings, allowing one hit and picking up six strikeouts.

White Sox: Yet to announce a starter for the series opener against the Rangers on Monday.

Mets: LHP Zac Thornton (3-4, 3.04 ERA) starts Game 1 against the Brewers on Tuesday.
