Valkyries use a big first half and balanced scoring to beat the Sun 89-64

UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- Janelle Salaun hit four 3-pointers and scored 15 points, Veronica Burton had 12 points and seven assists, and the Golden State Valkyries routed the Connecticut Sun 89-64 on Wednesday night.

Golden State closed the first half on a 14-0 run to help build a 55-27 lead. Connecticut went the final 3:51 without a point and went into the break 9 of 33 from the field.

Juste Jocyte gave the Valkyries their largest lead of the game at 87-52 early in the fourth quarter.

Kaila Charles had 14 points and Kaitlyn Chen added 10 for Golden State (27-11), which set a franchise record with 54 points off the bench. Fourteen Golden State players were in the game and 11 recorded at least two points.

Rookie Charlisse Leger-Walker led Connecticut (10-28) with a season-high 17 points, and Nell Angloma added 11. The Sun finished 22 of 71 (31%) from the field.
